Yurii Khymych (1928–2003) is a Kyivan artist, a classic of Ukrainian fine art of the second half of the 20th century, Honored Artist and Architect of Ukraine, Honorary Member of the Academy of Architecture of Ukraine. For almost 40 years, Khymych was a professor of art at Kyiv universities, including the Kyiv Civil Engineering Institute (Department of Drawing and Painting) and the Kyiv State Art Institute (now the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture). Since the 1950s, over 40 personal exhibitions of Yurii Khymych have taken place with unfailing success in Kyiv, Moscow, Budapest, New York, and Helsinki. Khymych’s artworks are in the collections of the Presidents of Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko and Volodymyr Zelenskyy, American diplomats William Greene Miller (US Ambassador to Ukraine in 1993–1998) and Carlos Pascual (US Ambassador to Ukraine in 2000–2003) and others. Khymych’s artworks are reproduced in numerous books, albums, greeting cards, calendars, postage stamps, etc.
