Submission guidelines

Thank you for considering Public Orthodoxy as a platform for your insights on Orthodox Christianity. We welcome both solicited and unsolicited contributions that align with our mission of Bridging the Ecclesial, the Academic, and the Political.

Please adhere to the following guidelines when submitting your work:


  • Short Reads section: 900 to 1,200 words (maximum).
  • Good Reads section: 3,500 to 4,000 words.
  • Please be advised that manuscripts shorter or longer than the listed word limits will not be considered for publication.
  • In certain cases, longer pieces may be considered for multi-part submissions if the topic is exceptionally compelling. However, prior approval from the editor is required.


  • Include a title – 5 words maximum.
  • Subtitle is optional, also up to 5 words.
  • Engage the reader with a lead paragraph at the beginning of your submission.
  • If you include allusions or indirect quotes from the Holy Scriptures, please mark these phrases in the text. This helps our translators ensure accuracy.
  • Submit manuscripts in Microsoft Word format only.
  • Do not embed images in the text. Please send them separately with description and credits.


  • Submissions are accepted in English, Russian, or Greek. However, English is preferred.
  • Let us know if you are fluent in multiple languages. After approval, we can provide a translated text for your review.

Bio and Photo:

  • Include a short bio of up to 250 words.
  • Provide the job title you wish to see displayed on Public Orthodoxy.
  • Submit a square headshot photo in JPEG format (1000×1000 px).
